Ditching "Traditional Marketing" and Embracing Bold, Modern Digital Strategies

From a young age, I've always been drawn to what we now call "the optics." I loved making things look more polished, more exciting—more marketable. I'd play salesperson among my friends, always the talker, always the one selling an idea. Back then, I never connected those traits to my ambitions—until university.

I was always a business girl at heart, excelling in subjects like Economics and even ranking first in my high school for CSEC Economics. Naturally, I thought I'd become an economist. But everything changed in my first year at UWI while pursuing my Bachelor's in Economics. One required marketing course later, and I was hooked. I started attending marketing classes I didn't even need—just because I was in love with the craft.

Torn between two worlds, I chose both. I pursued a double major in Economics and Marketing, balancing spreadsheets with storytelling. I interned for free, assisted marketing CEOs, and absorbed everything I could. I knew I'd start my own agency one day—I just didn't know when or how.

Then came the pandemic. With just $500 JMD, I launched my own skincare brand—not just to sell products, but to test my marketing skills in the real world. I designed every graphic, shot and edited every video, ran all the social media, and built a platform that generated hundreds of thousands of dollars monthly. Marketing was my lane, and people began to take notice.

After working with several remote marketing agencies, I decided to take the leap and build something of my own—Kaliber. What started as a dream is now a thriving agency, complete with a talented team and a growing list of incredible clients. We've had our bumps, but the growth, the connections, and the transformation have been beyond worth it.

Kaliber is already more than I imagined it would be in this short time, and yet—I know we're only getting started. The vision I have for this brand is limitless.
